These are the reflections of those sec2 members who went for the mural painting activity. It might seem weird that its posted in this band blog(LOL) but they were told to do so. So, enjoy. (: 15-Anniversary-Mural-Painting
I think that friendship, teamwork and leadership qualities are necessary in order to do a good job in the painting.
Friendship can be applied in life because if we do not have friends, we may not succeed as much and we would not be able to socialize with other people like new teammates at our new workplace. Teamwork and Leadership can also be applied in life because if we do not have teamwork, the team would be disorganized and everyone would be doing work separately and not working as a team to do work more efficiently, if the leader does not have leadership, the members of the team would be confused in what they are supposed to do leading the team to a mess.
The mural painting experience helped build friendship teamwork in my CCA group by allowing the leader to lead the team and allow the team to work together as one allowing us to bond. I enjoyed the part, where I got to represent my CCA group and paint the murals on the wall for our school’s 15th anniversary, the most.

15th Anniversary Mural Painting
Question 1: What quality or qualities do you think is necessary in order to do a good job in the painting? I think that mural painting requires teamwork. We worked as a group because the leader allocated jobs to us so that everyone knew what to do, and was kept busy. I also learned that to every job, there are also mundane activities which are part and parcel of the job. At first, painting a mural seemed pretty fun and interesting, but alongside the excitement, there was also the job of cleaning out the containers and the brushes, which proved to be very difficult as the paint got stuck on the brushes because we left the brushes unattended for too long. Peer learning was also practiced as we shared knowledge about masking techniques and how to paint properly.
Question 2: How can you apply the qualities mentioned above in your studies or life?
Working as a team is essential in any project that we do in class. The most important part of working as a team is probably the leader. If nobody listens to the leader of a group, everyone would have his own opinions and nothing would be accomplished. With a cohesive team, work would be done faster and more efficiently. I can apply the second fact I mentioned by acknowledging the fact that every job comes with good and bad points. In everything you do, there will inevitably be something you don’t like about it. This relates to studying, and revising work. You may not like a certain subject, but it still is necessary to study for it. You just need to understand that not everything you do is something that you greatly enjoy, and learn how to make the un-enjoyable things more bearable. Peer-learning is practiced in daily life too. Every day we talk to friends, learn new vocabulary or maybe figure out how to solve a math problem which the teacher had no time to go through. Peer-learning can be applied by teaching your friends things that you are good at, and learning from them what you aren’t that great with.
Question 3: How has the mural painting experience helped in building friendship and teamwork in your CCA group?
The mural painting experience allowed me to learn more about the people who were doing the mural with me, as we worked closely together most of the time. We had to learn to work together and help each other in order to receive the desired results. We also had the chance to bond with each other as we have like never spent any time together. (Besides band, but since three people are in different sections practically NONE)
Question 4: State one part of the mural painting process that you enjoyed the most.
I think that I enjoyed the painting part of the mural painting rather than the masking. The masking was fairly boring because all we did was paste masking tape over the outline of the picture, which was necessary, but at that time seemed pointless. (We later found out the function of masking when all he colours ran into each other)I enjoyed the painting as I like working with paints and it was fun to paint on a wall, because I don’t do that often. It was very different from painting on normal paper, and you have to paint several coats of paint on to ensure that it looks nice, which you never have to do on paper.

The qualities that I think is necessary to do a good job for the painting is leadership, bonding and teamwork because without these qualities, we will have a very hard time to communicate and interact and therefore, we will not finish the painting on time.
These qualities can also be applied in our studies and even life. Leadership can be applied in school by leading a group when we are doing group works or projects. It also can help in life by helping and guiding other people that has a lesser knowledge than you (Doesn’t mean they are stupid-I think).
For bonding, without it, you will not communicate well with your members. If a group has members which are not bonded, then the group will have a very hard time to finish the work or project. For example, half of the group paints the picture while the other half plays the paint. For teamwork, it is very important because teamwork helps us to finish our project as soon as possible. Without teamwork, we will not be able to complete the project on time.
This experience helps in learning friendship and teamwork by making us closer to one another. We also learned to work together and were cooperative which made the painting nice and beautiful.
The part that I enjoyed most was when I masked all the outlines. I just find it fun to mask the outlines as I have not done it before and it was my first time doing so. Another thing that I enjoyed most was painting on the walls nicely.
